Ba Ho Waterfalls is a place I genuinely recommend to anyone who feels cramped among Nha Trang’s beach loungers and noisy bars. It is one of the best adventures near the city for those craving wild nature, rocky trails, and crystal‑clear natural pools.
Just 25 km north of Nha Trang, hidden in dense tropical jungle, lies a cascade of three waterfalls that locals call «Three Lakes.» This is not a casual stroll — it is a real trek with elements of rock climbing. I have made it to the very top of all three levels, and it was unforgettable.

🚗 How to Get There and When to Go
Getting to Ba Ho is straightforward. Rent a motorbike or car, or book a taxi, and head north on the main QL1A highway for about 25–35 minutes from central Nha Trang. If you value freedom, renting a bike is the best option. You can explore the scenic surroundings at your own pace without being tied to a tour schedule.
If you prefer comfort, a taxi will cost around 300,000–400,000 VND round‑trip. Alternatively, you can join an organized tour — these often include transfers, lunch, and entrance tickets, which is also very convenient.
Now, the most important part: weather. The best time for the trek is during the dry season, from December to April, when the water in the lakes turns crystal clear and emerald green. My advice: do not go there in the rain. Trust my experience — wet and slippery rocks turn an exciting climb into a hazardous attraction. Wear sturdy, non‑slip shoes — trekking sandals or sneakers are ideal. Leave the flip‑flops for the beach.
If you are building a full Nha Trang adventure plan, this spot fits perfectly into my 9‑day Nha Trang itinerary.
🏞️ Three Levels of Adventure
After buying your ticket, you have a choice: take a leisurely walk along the easy path, or head straight onto the eco‑trail along the stream to start climbing the rocks. Stay alert: monkeys live in the forest and may try to snatch your belongings, so never leave anything unattended.
- First Level: The first and largest lake is the easiest to reach. It is a great spot for swimming to cool off and for trying your first jumps into the water. Feel free to bring kids — this part of the trail is manageable for them.
- Second Level: The path here already requires some agility. You will need to scramble over huge boulders, but the effort is well worth it. The second lake is smaller, but the water is clearer, and there are far fewer people. You can also jump from here, and in some spots there are even rope swings.
- Third Level: This is the reward for the most persistent. The trail to the third lake is a real challenge: steep rocks, narrow paths, and the need to grab onto stones and branches. But once you reach the top, you will find the wildest and most secluded spot, where you can enjoy the beauty of the jungle in complete silence.

💰 Prices and What to Bring
Ticket prices may vary slightly, but on average, the basic entrance fee is around 135,000–200,000 VND. Parking is usually free, though sometimes a small fee (about 5,000 VND) is charged. If you wish, you can purchase an extended package that includes activities like kayaking or a zipline — these tickets cost up to 335,000 VND.
The site is open from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and I recommend arriving right at opening time. Mornings are cooler, and you have a great chance to enjoy the lakes almost all to yourself.
Be sure to pack plenty of water, snacks, a swimsuit, a towel, sunscreen, and insect repellent.
💎 Is It Worth It?
Absolutely yes. Ba Ho Waterfalls is a chance to see a completely different, wild, and authentic side of Vietnam. It is an ideal spot for anyone who misses active outdoor adventures.
