Hồ Mây Park Vung Tau is one of those places in Vung Tau that is difficult to understand.
However, you will grasp it only after you ride the cable car up the mountain.
From the entrance on Trần Phú Street, the cable car climbs toward Núi Lớn.
Additionally, I didn’t try to cover the entire park in one visit.
Later, I went up by cable car, enjoyed the views, and visited mountain-top café at Hồ Mây Park Vung Tau.
That turned out to be a surprisingly good way to experience Hồ Mây Park Vung Tau.
It lets you avoid rushing through every attraction.
What Is Hồ Mây Park?
Hồ Mây Park Vung Tau is a large mountain-top entertainment and recreation area on Núi Lớn in Vung Tau. It sits atop the hill, offering panoramic views and easy access for visitors.
The site offers scenic views and a range of activities for visitors.
The complex combines sightseeing, nature, entertainment, cultural and religious attractions, restaurants and other activities.
The official address is 1A Trần Phú Street, at the foot of Núi Lớn, Hồ Mây Park Vung Tau. The cable car is the main way for visitors to reach the park.
Once you arrive at the top, the environment changes noticeably. Instead of being down at sea level in the middle of Vung Tau, you are looking back over the city, coastline and surrounding mountains.
The Hồ Mây Cable Car
For me, the cable car is one of the best parts of the experience.
The journey takes you from the Trần Phú entrance up toward the park on Núi Lớn, with Vung Tau gradually opening up below you. On a clear day, you can see the coastline, the city and the sea from above.
The current official ticket information confirms that the full park ticket includes a round-trip cable car journey as well as an internal electric shuttle between the station and the main tourist area.
If you are not interested in spending the whole day at the park, there is also a separate cable car + Royal Garden sightseeing ticket. The current price listed by the park is 100,000 VND for adults and 50,000 VND for children.
How Much Does Hồ Mây Park Cost?
This is where it is worth paying attention to the difference between the prices I saw during my visit and the price currently displayed on the official website.
When I visited, the full package was listed at 500,000 VND per adult. The same package included the cable car and access to the park’s attractions.
The official Hồ Mây Park website currently lists an online price of 475,000 VND for an adult from outside the province and 237,500 VND for a child measuring from 1 to 1.3 meters. Children under 1 meter are listed as free.
Because ticket prices can change and the park may use different prices for different sales channels, I recommend checking the official ticket page before visiting if the exact price matters to your budget.
Is There a Cheaper Way to Visit?
Yes. If your main interest is simply getting above Vung Tau and enjoying the mountain views, the cable car + Royal Garden sightseeing ticket is much cheaper than the full park package.
That option is particularly interesting if you are not planning to spend a full day riding attractions or exploring the entire park.
In my case, I was more interested in the cable car, the views and finding somewhere to sit with a drink than trying to cover every attraction on the mountain.
What Is Included in the Full Park Ticket?
The full package includes much more than the cable car itself.
According to the current official information, the park includes a mixture of sightseeing areas, cultural and religious sites, entertainment and outdoor activities. These include:
- Round-trip cable car transportation
- Internal electric shuttle transportation
- Nature and ecological areas
- Religious and cultural areas
- Family entertainment
- Adventure and outdoor activities
- Water-based attractions
- Food and restaurant options
The official park information currently lists more than 70 modern games and attractions across different areas of the complex.
Do You Need a Whole Day for Hồ Mây Park?
If you want to experience the park properly, yes, I would allow most of a day.
Hồ Mây is spread across a large mountain area, and there are enough different attractions that trying to rush through everything would make little sense.
But you do not have to spend the entire day there.
If your main goal is the cable car and the views, you can make it a much shorter visit. Take the cable car up, walk around the accessible areas, stop for food or a drink and return when you are ready.
This is the option I would consider if you are already doing several other things in Vung Tau on the same day.
The Mountain-top Café
One of the things I particularly enjoyed was simply sitting down at the café on the mountain.
After taking the cable car up, you don’t necessarily need another attraction every five minutes. Sometimes it is enough to order something cold, have a coffee or a beer, eat something and look out over Vung Tau.
The elevated location gives the café a completely different atmosphere from the restaurants and coffee shops down in the city.
If you are traveling with someone who is not interested in rides and attractions, this can actually be a good compromise: one person gets the mountain experience, while everyone can simply sit down and enjoy the view.
What Can You See from Hồ Mây?
The views are one of the biggest reasons to come up here.
From the mountain, Vung Tau looks completely different from the ground. You can see the coastline, the city and the sea spread out below you.
Depending on the weather and visibility, you can also see different parts of the peninsula and the surrounding coastline.
If you enjoy viewpoints, I would combine Hồ Mây with Vung Tau Lighthouse and Mũi Nghinh Phong. The three places give you very different perspectives of the city.
Hồ Mây Park Opening Hours
The current official Hồ Mây Park website lists the park’s operating hours as 8:00 AM to 10:00 PM, with the amusement area operating from 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM.
The park also has evening experiences, so the mountain is not limited to daytime sightseeing.
One example is the Night Safari, which is currently being promoted as part of Vung Tau’s expanding nighttime tourism offering. Recent local reporting says the experience has already been attracting visitors and is operated by Vung Tau Cable Car Tourism JSC – Hồ Mây Park.
Is Hồ Mây Park Good at Night?
It can be.
Vung Tau is actively expanding its nighttime tourism offering, and Hồ Mây is now part of that development. The Night Safari is one of the newer experiences, giving visitors another reason to stay on the mountain after sunset.
However, if your main goal is the classic panoramic view of Vung Tau from the cable car, I would still prefer daylight or late afternoon.
If you want a combination of sightseeing and evening entertainment, staying later makes more sense.
How to Get to Hồ Mây Park
The main entrance and cable car station are at 1A Trần Phú Street in Vung Tau, near Front Beach and the foot of Núi Lớn.
From the city centre, you can reach the entrance by taxi, motorbike or private car.

Even though the cable car makes the climb easy, you should still dress for walking and outdoor sightseeing.

If you are planning to explore the park’s outdoor attractions, comfortable footwear becomes particularly important.
Is Hồ Mây Park Good for Families?
Yes. The park has attractions aimed at different age groups, including children’s entertainment, nature areas and more adventurous activities.
Families also have the advantage of being able to move around the mountain using the internal electric shuttle included with the full package.
That makes the park easier to navigate than you might expect from its size.
Should You Buy the Full Ticket?
That depends on what you actually want to do.
If you want to spend several hours exploring attractions, trying rides and seeing different areas of the park, the full package makes much more sense.
If you mainly want the cable car, mountain views and a relaxed café stop, I would look at the cheaper sightseeing option instead.
That is an important distinction because not every visitor needs the full amusement-park experience.
How Does Hồ Mây Fit into a Vung Tau Itinerary?
Hồ Mây works particularly well as a half-day or full-day part of a larger Vung Tau trip.
You could visit the park during the day and then return toward the coast for the beachfront promenade, Front Beach or one of the city’s rooftop bars.
Another option is to combine Hồ Mây with Vung Tau’s historic and religious attractions, then finish the day with dinner in the city.

Is Hồ Mây Park Worth Visiting?
Yes, but you don’t have to treat it as an all-day amusement park.
For me, the most interesting part was the journey up by cable car, the view from the mountain and the chance to sit down at the café above the city.
If you have children or enjoy rides and entertainment, the full park gives you much more to do. If you are traveling as a couple or simply want another viewpoint over Vung Tau, the cable car and sightseeing option may be enough.
Either way, Hồ Mây gives you a perspective of Vung Tau that you simply cannot get from the beach.
