After a week of beach strips and rooftop bars, I pointed my Grab south — about twenty minutes from the centre, past the airport turn-off, into a pocket of Nha Trang that still feels like a secret. Three stops, all within five minutes of each other, none of them on the usual tourist trail. One has a real helicopter on the roof and an iguana that walks past your table. Another is a 9,000 m² fairy-tale forest with mist and wooden towers. The third costs nothing, and you walk on a bridge through a lotus pond while rabbits hop around. If you’re already checking flights to Nha Trang, this is the day trip that will change the way you see the city. 🌿
🚁 Koi Garden Cafe — The Helicopter, the Iguana, and the Koi Under Your Feet
📍 Southern Nha Trang, near Phước Đồng | 🕒 6:00 AM – 10:00 PM (Sunday until 11:45 PM) | 💰 Drinks from 30k VND
I wasn’t ready for this place. You walk in expecting a normal garden cafe. Then you sit down, look at your feet, and realise you’re sitting inside a koi pond. Fish swimming right under your table. Not next to you — under you. The entire ground floor is built around a network of clean, well-kept ponds crossed by wooden walkways. There’s no green water, no smell — someone takes genuine care here. You sip your coffee, they swim circles around your chair. It’s strange and wonderful in equal measure.
Then a giant iguana walks past like it owns the place. Because it does. It’s not in a cage. It just lives here, calm and slow, clearly used to humans. It’ll stop, tilt its head, and move on. Don’t poke it — just let it do its rounds. 🦎
But the real mind-bender is upstairs. On the roof of this cafe sits a real helicopter — not a model, not a shell. Blades look like they’re still spinning. You can climb into the cockpit, grab the controls, and pretend you’re about to take off over the Nha Trang hills. It’s surreal, and your phone camera will be full before you’ve even finished your coffee. Next to the helicopter stands the giant “God’s Hand” sculpture, reaching up from the highest point of the property, overlooking green hills. It’s pure Instagram bait, but somehow it works — the scale, the silence up there, the view stretching toward the coast.

The ground floor is pure zen: ponds, bridges, bonsai trees, hidden corners where you can actually hear yourself think. No blasting music, no street noise — just water and shade. Drinks are cheap: Vietnamese coffee, smoothies, teas — most things fall between 30,000 and 50,000 VND. You’re not paying for fancy beans. You’re paying for one of the strangest, most memorable settings in Vietnam. Come before 10 AM or after 3 PM — cooler air, better light, fewer people. Give yourself at least an hour. You’ll need it. ☕
🧚 Fairy Forest — 9,000 m² of Mist, Bridges, and Whimsy
📍 Đỗ Xuân Hợp Street, Phước Đồng Commune | 🕒 7:00 AM – 6:00 PM daily | 💰 Entrance: 50,000 VND (includes free carrots for the animals)
Five minutes from the helicopter cafe, you’ll find the Fairy Forest — and yes, it’s exactly what it sounds like. A 9,000 m² storybook garden that feels like Alice in Wonderland dropped into the Vietnamese countryside. Dreamy wooden bridges curve over small streams. Whimsical trees twist into shapes that don’t seem natural. Hidden mist sprayers release soft clouds of vapour, and when you walk through them, the whole forest turns silvery and strange. It’s not trying to be a theme park — it’s trying to be a dream, and it mostly succeeds. 🌫️🍃
There’s a three-storey wooden tower at the centre of the forest. Climb it. From the top, you get a full panorama of the entire space — the winding paths, the ponds, the mist rolling through the trees. It’s the best photo spot on the property, especially in the late afternoon when the light turns golden.
The animals here are small and sweet: hungry sheep, rabbits, koi fish in a clear pond. The fish food is free, and the carrots for the sheep and rabbits come with your entrance ticket. Kids lose their minds here. Adults end up feeding the rabbits too — I did, and I’m not sorry. 🐇

There’s a cosy café on-site where you can sit by the koi pond with a sea-salt coffee and watch the mist drift through the trees. After a rainy day, the forest feels extra magical — the ground is damp, the air is cool, and the mist clings longer. Don’t let a little drizzle stop you; it actually makes the place better. Expect to spend an hour or two. The only way here is by Grab or Xanh SM taxi — do not try to walk, the surrounding streets have dogs, and it’s simply too far from anything. Parking is free if you ride a motorbike.
🌸 Mười Amazon — Free Lotus Pond, Rabbits, and a Bridge Over Flowers
📍 Đỗ Xuân Hợp, Phước Lộc, Phước Đồng, Nha Trang | 💰 Entrance: Free | 🍽️ Restaurant meal: 150k–250k VND per person
I thought I’d need to pay to get into this place. Turns out — completely free. Just a green gate at the end of the road, and suddenly the honking is gone. This is Mười Amazon, a quiet eco-spot that asks for nothing and gives you a lotus pond, a mini zoo, and a wooden bridge stretching into the middle of the flowers. When the lotuses are blooming (roughly May to July), it’s like walking through a postcard — pink petals, wide green leaves, and the soft hum of dragonflies. 🌸
The mini zoo is modest but charming: rabbits, parrots, peacocks, koi carp, ducks. No fancy enclosures — just animals chilling. Kids love it; adults end up feeding the rabbits too. Shady paths wind through bonsai gardens and ferns, and you can walk for an hour without bumping into other people. There are thatched fishing huts over the water — you sit, drop a line, and if you catch something, they’ll cook it for you on the spot. No rush, no pressure. 🎣

The restaurant serves simple countryside dishes: free-range chicken, hotpots, fresh seafood, local greens. Prices are reasonable — a solid meal runs about 150,000 to 250,000 VND per person. You can also bring your own snacks and find a shady bench. A few things to keep in mind: the last stretch of road is bumpy — drive slow. Service can be relaxed when it’s busy, so come with patience, not a tight schedule. Bring insect repellent — it’s a garden by the water. The best time to visit is late afternoon, 3 to 5 PM, when the light softens and the lotus flowers look their most unreal. If you’re with kids, the mini zoo and fishing will buy you at least an hour of peace.
🗺️ How to Do This Day Trip
All three spots sit within five minutes of each other on the southern edge of Nha Trang, about 20–25 minutes by Grab from the city centre. Start at Koi Garden Cafe in the morning — arrive before 10 AM to have the helicopter and the koi ponds mostly to yourself. Then head to Fairy Forest, a two-minute ride away, and spend an hour or two wandering the misty paths. Finish at Mười Amazon in the late afternoon, when the lotus pond glows and the heat has eased. Total entrance costs for the day: 50,000 VND per person for Fairy Forest; everything else is free or pay-as-you-go. Bring cash, a charged phone, and insect repellent. If you’re looking for a comfortable base to make this day trip effortless, you can find a hotel in Nha Trang — staying central means you’re only a short Grab ride from everything on this route. 🚕
