My Khe Beach and the My Khe Promenade are closely connected, but they are not exactly the same thing.
The beach is the sandy coastline itself. The promenade is the long pedestrian-friendly area running beside Võ Nguyên Giáp, with the beach on one side and hotels, restaurants and entertainment venues on the other.
I have walked the entire promenade, and it changes dramatically throughout the day.
Early morning belongs to local residents, swimmers, joggers and people doing tai chi. By late afternoon, beach clubs open up, restaurants become busier and the whole coastline starts to feel much more social.

What Is My Khe Beach Like?
My Khe is a large urban beach rather than a tiny secluded tropical cove.
The sand is wide, the coastline is open and there is plenty of room to find a quieter section even when the central area is busy.
On clear days you get a combination of blue water, sandy beach, palm trees and views toward Sơn Trà Peninsula. It is one of the most recognizable coastal landscapes in Da Nang.
The best part is that you do not have to choose between a beach holiday and city life. Restaurants and cafes are literally across the road.
Can You Swim at My Khe Beach?

The actual conditions depend on the season, weather and waves. Always follow local swimming signs, warning flags and lifeguard instructions.

5:30–7:30 AM is my favorite time.
The air is cooler, the beach is quieter and the atmosphere is completely different from the afternoon. Locals swim, exercise, jog and practice tai chi along the waterfront.
Late Afternoon
4:00–6:00 PM is the best period if you want the beach and the social side of My Khe together.
The heat becomes easier to handle, people return to the beach and restaurants and beach clubs begin getting busy.
Evening
The beach itself becomes much quieter after dark, but the area immediately behind it stays active.
This is when the restaurants, bars and beach clubs become the main attraction.
Best Beach Clubs and Beach Bars Around My Khe
This is where My Khe becomes much more interesting than an ordinary city beach.
Along the beachfront you can find everything from relaxed bars on the sand to large beach clubs with DJs, pools and evening shows.

You do not need to leave the beach area to find good food.
The streets behind Võ Nguyên Giáp are packed with Vietnamese restaurants, seafood restaurants, international cuisine, cafes and bars.
Some of the places I have personally tried include MAD PLATTER, KYOTO, NAZARE Indian and Harbour.
MAD PLATTER is a casual option with large fried chicken platters and salt coffee. KYOTO focuses on sushi and teppanyaki. NAZARE Indian is one of the better options when you want Indian food with an ocean view. Harbour is on an upper floor and works particularly well for a sunset drink.

East West Brewing at My Khe
One of the most interesting places directly on the My Khe strip is East West Brewing.
It has an ocean-facing terrace and a large selection of craft beer brewed on site. Sunset is particularly good from the terrace, although it can become busy.

Do not expect the actual sand to turn into a giant nightclub after dark.
The nightlife is concentrated along the promenade and the streets immediately behind it.

This is one of the main reasons I recommend staying around My Khe rather than choosing accommodation too far inland if nightlife and the beach are both important to you.

If you specifically want to wake up directly beside the ocean, pay attention to the exact location of the hotel. “Near My Khe Beach” can mean several different blocks, and some properties are much closer to the water than others.

For a first visit, I would generally choose My Khe. You can always take a short Grab ride into central Da Nang when you want to explore the riverfront or city center.
How to Get to My Khe Beach
From Da Nang Airport
The airport is on the western side of the city and My Khe is directly across the urban area. Grab or a taxi is the easiest option.
From Da Nang City Center
Cross the Han River and continue toward the coast. Grab is usually the simplest option if you do not want to deal with traffic or parking.
By Motorbike
A motorbike gives you the most flexibility if you want to explore My Khe, Sơn Trà and the southern coastline.
Parking is available around many restaurants and beach clubs, although central areas can become busy in the evening.
My Khe Beach to Marble Mountains
The Marble Mountains are one of the easiest major attractions to combine with a My Khe stay.
They are south of the main beach area and are much easier to reach by Grab than on foot.
I would recommend visiting the Marble Mountains earlier in the day and then returning to My Khe for the afternoon and evening.

The northern end of My Khe leads toward Sơn Trà Peninsula, which gives you an easy way to combine a beach day with mountain roads, viewpoints and coastal scenery.
