Marble Mountains Da Nang, with five peaks—Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth—has long been a Buddhist center.
The main peak, Thuy Son (Water Mountain), is where most of the action is.
You can take the elevator up, but the stone staircases are part of the experience.
The paths connect natural caves, cave temples, and centuries-old pagodas.
Frangipani trees and vines grow out of the rock.
Located about 15–20 minutes from Da Nang city centre, the Marble Mountains are an easy day trip from either Da Nang or Hội An. If you’re visiting Da Nang for First-Timers, this is one of the top attractions you shouldn’t skip.
Most visitors spend 2–3 hours exploring the complex. The mountains are open daily from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM.

Basic entrance: 40,000 VND — includes access to the mountain trails, pagodas, and most caves
Am Phu Cave: 20,000 VND extra — separate ticket, bought at the cave entrance
Elevator (one-way): 15,000 VND — you buy it separately each time you use it
Elevator (round-trip): 30,000 VND — two separate one-way tickets
⚠️ Important: There are no combo tickets. You pay for each thing separately: entrance, elevator up, elevator down, and Am Phu Cave. The total for everything comes to around 90,000 VND per person.
🚨 Scam alert at the entrance: When you arrive, you’ll see locals standing near the gate who will try to convince you that you need to buy tickets from them before entering. Some of them are quite pushy. They might say “first ticket, then entrance” and try to steer you to a small booth. Ignore them. The official ticket counter is further inside, right next to the elevator building. Walk past the locals, head straight to the elevator, and buy your tickets there.

🏛️ What to See — The Best Route

1. Am Phu Cave — The Journey Through Hell and Heaven
You enter at ground level, but you don’t stay there. Am Phu Cave is designed as a journey, and it starts with a bridge that separates the living from everything that comes after. The cave was named by King Minh Mang in the 19th century. Inside, the journey is symbolic. The right path descends into darkness. You pass through dimly lit chambers with statues of demons, judges, and sinners. Red lighting and shadows make the walls feel alive. Then the path changes — you climb stairs that grow brighter, and eventually, you step into a chamber filled with natural light from above.
2. Elevator to the Summit
After Am Phu Cave, take the elevator up to Thuy Son. It saves your energy for the caves and viewpoints.
3. Linh Ung Pagoda
Your first stop at the summit is Linh Ung Pagoda. Here, you’ll find ancient Buddha statues, serene courtyards, and gorgeous views of the Da Nang coastline.
4. Huyền Không Cave — The Crown Jewel
This is the absolute highlight of the Marble Mountains. It’s a massive natural cave with a collapsed ceiling that allows shafts of sunlight to pour in. On a bright day, the light literally slices through the cavern space, creating one of the most breathtaking scenes in all of Da Nang. Inside, you’ll discover altars, Buddha statues, and shrines carved seamlessly into the rock face. Hands down, this is the ultimate photo spot in the entire complex.
5. Vọng Giang Đài — The River Viewpoint
A cozy observation deck offering views of the Cổ Cò River and the Da Nang countryside. It’s usually pretty quiet here, making it a great spot to soak in the scenery.
6. Tam Thai Pagoda
Dating back to the 17th century, this is the oldest pagoda in the complex. The atmosphere here shifts completely: fewer tourists, more tranquility, and peace.
7. Van Thong Cave & Vọng Hải Đài — The Summit View
Get ready for the most adventurous leg of the journey. To reach the upper tier, you have to squeeze your way through narrow, rocky passages inside the mountain. From the top, beautiful views open up over the mountain. Vọng Hải Đài is the main observation deck, serving up sweeping panoramic views of Non Nuoc Beach, the South China Sea, the Da Nang coastline, and the neighboring marble peaks.
This route guarantees you’ll hit all the highlights of the Marble Mountains in half a day.

💡 What I’d Do Differently
I’d start early — around 8:00 AM — to beat the crowds and the heat. The light in Huyền Không Cave is best in the morning, and the stairs are more manageable before the midday sun.
I’d also skip the elevator on the way up and take it on the way down. The stone staircases are part of the experience, and you’ll see more of the smaller caves and shrines along the way.
And I’d bring small bills to pay for the entrance fees — the ticket office struggles to make change for large notes.
