Travel between Vietnam and Sri Lanka is set to become easier this month as Vietnam Airlines and Vietjet launch new direct flights between Ho Chi Minh City and Colombo.
Vietnam Airlines will launch its first Ho Chi Minh City–Colombo service on August 16, 2026. The route will operate three times a week using Airbus A321 aircraft, with departures from Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. This will be Vietnam Airlines’ first route to Sri Lanka.
Vietjet will launch its own direct service on August 18, also operating three round trips per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Flights will connect Tan Son Nhat International Airport with Bandaranaike International Airport near Colombo.
The new routes will give travelers a direct connection between southern Vietnam and Sri Lanka without the need for a connecting flight. They are also expected to support tourism, family travel and business links between the two countries.
