I’ve walked both end to end, and the difference is immediate: My Khe doesn’t try to be elegant. It tries to be fun. The 10-kilometer stretch along Võ Nguyên Giáp is a living, breathing strip of beach bars, craft breweries, seafood joints, and the kind of sunsets that stop conversations mid-sentence. This is not a quiet boardwalk. This is Da Nang’s main street, and it’s the best free walk in the city.

My Khe Promenade runs along Võ Nguyên Giáp Street, hugging one of the most celebrated urban beaches in Vietnam. Forbes once called My Khe one of the most attractive beaches on the planet, and the promenade is the front-row seat to that show. It starts in the north near Sơn Trà Peninsula and stretches south for about 10 kilometers, ending near the Marble Mountains. The pavement is wide, well-paved, and lined with palm trees. In the morning it belongs to joggers and elderly locals doing tai chi. By late afternoon, the energy shifts — sun loungers appear, DJs start sound-checking, and the whole strip begins to hum.

Start early, around 5:30 AM. The light is soft, the air is cool, and the only sounds are waves and the occasional motorcycle delivering fresh baguettes. The northern end of the promenade, near Sơn Trà, is quieter — more locals, fewer bars. As you walk south, the landscape changes. By the time you hit the central stretch, roughly from the Dragon Bridge to the Love Lock Bridge, the promenade is dense with life. This is where the beach clubs begin: Esco Beach Bar with its nightly fire show at 9:30 PM, Kalà Kalà Beach Club with its free entry and pool, Columbo Beach Club with its three full-size ship replicas and 3,000-guest pool parties. Further south, the pace slows again. Coco Beach Bar and Lounge Beach offer a more relaxed vibe, with beanbags on the sand and cocktails that don’t break the bank. The southern tail of the promenade is peaceful, almost residential — fewer venues, more families, and the distant silhouette of the Marble Mountains.

This is not a promenade where you walk and admire architecture. You walk and eat. You walk and drink. East West Brewing, one of Vietnam’s most respected craft breweries, sits directly on the strip with a terrace facing the ocean. MAD PLATTER serves massive fried chicken platters and their signature salt coffee. NAZARE Indian does butter chicken so good it’s almost a problem — I’ve gone back three times. KYOTO brings teppanyaki and fresh sushi to the beachfront, with a terrace that catches the sea breeze. Harbour on the 4th floor of a beachfront building does happy hour right when the sun drops. This is the real My Khe — a strip where you can spend an entire afternoon and evening without ever leaving the sound of the waves.
