Vietnam Domestic Flights Are 30–50% Cheaper After National Day

If you are planning to travel around Vietnam in September or October 2026, this could be a good time to check domestic flights.

Airfares on many domestic routes have dropped by around 30–50% after Vietnam’s September 2 National Day holiday, as demand has fallen from the peak travel period while airlines continue to offer a large number of seats.

That means travelers moving between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang, Nha Trang, Phu Quoc and other popular destinations may currently find significantly lower fares than during the summer and holiday period.

Why Are Vietnam Domestic Flights Cheaper Now?

The main reason is the sharp change in demand after the National Day holiday.

During the August 29–September 2 holiday period, domestic travel was extremely busy. Airlines carried almost 1.2 million passengers over the five-day holiday, while international passengers accounted for more than half of the total air traffic.

Once the holiday ended, demand for domestic travel dropped quickly. Schools returned to normal schedules and many Vietnamese families stopped taking longer domestic trips, while airlines continued to maintain substantial seat capacity.

That combination has pushed airlines to release more lower-priced seats and increase promotions for September and October.

Which Vietnam Routes Are Currently Cheap?

Prices vary by airline, travel date and availability, but several major routes are currently showing noticeably lower fares.

Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang

One-way fares from Ho Chi Minh City to Da Nang were observed from around 628,000 VND on Vietjet, including taxes and fees.

Return fares on some September dates can therefore be considerably cheaper than during the summer peak.

Ho Chi Minh City to Hanoi

The busy Ho Chi Minh City–Hanoi route is also seeing lower prices.

Some September and October departures were available from around 850,000 VND one way on Vietravel Airlines, while other airlines were also offering substantially lower fares than during the National Day peak.

This is particularly useful if you want to combine northern and southern Vietnam in one trip rather than taking an overnight train between the two cities.

Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc

Phu Quoc is another route where prices have become more attractive.

Some return-flight combinations from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Quoc were available for around 1.2 million VND including taxes and fees.

Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang

Flights from Ho Chi Minh City to Nha Trang were also among the routes with lower September and October fares, with some return trips available in the range of approximately 1.2–1.6 million VND.

Ho Chi Minh City to Con Dao

One of the more unusual price drops is on flights to Con Dao.

Tickets that normally cost around 2–2.5 million VND one way were being offered at around 1.1 million VND for some September dates.

Because Con Dao has fewer flights than major destinations such as Da Nang or Nha Trang, low fares on this route may be particularly worth checking if your dates are flexible.

Hanoi to Da Nang Is Also Cheaper

Travelers flying between northern and central Vietnam can also find lower fares.

Some September return trips between Hanoi and Da Nang were available for approximately 1.2–1.5 million VND, around 30–40% below the levels seen during the previous month.

Vietjet Is Also Running a September Promotion

The lower market prices are being accompanied by additional airline promotions.

Vietjet is running a three-day promotion from September 8 to September 10, 2026. Eco fares start from 0 VND before taxes and fees, while selected international Deluxe fares receive a 22% discount with the promotional code SALE99.

The promotion covers eligible domestic and international flights, with travel dates extending from September 10, 2026 through September 10, 2027, although blackout periods and route-specific conditions apply.

Because promotional fares are limited and taxes and fees are added separately, travelers should compare the final price rather than relying on the headline fare.

Vietnam Airlines Also Has Domestic Discounts

Vietnam Airlines is running its own app promotion on Tuesdays.

From September 1 through October 27, 2026, eligible domestic bookings made through the airline’s app can receive up to 10% off with the APPDEAL promotion code.

The offer applies to eligible travel dates through the end of 2026, subject to the airline’s conditions and excluded periods.

Is September a Good Time to Fly Around Vietnam?

For travelers who can handle some flexibility, September and October can be a useful period for moving around Vietnam.

Domestic flights are currently cheaper than during the National Day and summer peaks, and the lower demand can make it easier to find suitable departure times.

However, weather should also be considered when choosing your route. Central and northern Vietnam can experience significant rainfall and storms during the autumn months, so a cheap flight is not necessarily a good deal if the weather makes your destination unsuitable.

How to Find the Best Domestic Flight Prices

1. Check several travel dates. Flying on weekdays can be significantly cheaper than weekends.
2. Compare the final price. Promotional fares may exclude taxes, fees or baggage.
3. Check several airlines. Vietnam’s major domestic routes are often served by multiple carriers.
4. Book before the cheapest fare disappears. Low-price inventory is limited and can change quickly.

Where to Stay After You Fly

When domestic flights become cheaper, it can make sense to add an extra destination to your Vietnam itinerary rather than simply shortening the trip.

For example, you could spend several nights in Hanoi, fly to Da Nang, continue to Nha Trang and finish with a few days in Ho Chi Minh City or Phu Quoc.
